Dominik Garstecki is interested in objects that are unremarkable: found fragments of rubble, bits of concrete meant for the trash, cast-away chunks of human-made material. To him, these objects become a link, an embodiment of the spectra: a ghost-like character that might be real, might occupy space, but somehow cannot be either confirmed or affirmed. It is precisely in the transience of these materials, their slippage between the past and the present and the denial of their objecthood that Garstecki uses as the starting point for his exhibition. Through creating an archive of replicas, Garstecki seeks to explore ideas of simulacra, of entropy, of aura, of objecthood and meaning in time and place.

Dominika Garsteckiego interesują przedmioty, które się nie wyróżniają: znalezione fragmenty gruzu, kawałki betonu przeznaczone na śmieci, wyrzucone fragmenty sztucznego materiału. Dla niego te obiekty stają się ogniwem, ucieleśnieniem widm: postacią przypominającą ducha, która może być prawdziwa, może zajmować przestrzeń, ale w jakiś sposób nie może być ani potwierdzona, ani zaakceptowana. To właśnie przemijalność tych materiałów, ich nie możność umiejscowienia ani w przeszłości ani teraźniejszości oraz zaprzeczenie ich przedmiotowości, wykorzystuje Garstecki jako punkt wyjścia dla swojej wystawy. Tworząc archiwum replik, Garstecki stara się zgłębiać idee symulakrów, entropii, aury, przedmiotowości i znaczenia w czasie i miejscu.
