WARSAW>KIN<BERLIN | 15.04-13.05.2023
KIN: a relationship that does not come from the past, but points to the future. The independent/project space scenes of these two capital cities of neighboring countries have distinct roots and biographies, and their independent initiatives reflect this. But it is kinship that makes it possible to discover these subtle and surprising differences while also revealing their critical connections.
The exhibition in the Milchhof Pavillon features works by two artists per project space, a gesture that will be repeated in Warsaw in the fall. With this initiative we would like to emphasize the special role of independent/project spaces for experimentation and artistic development, and to strengthen these relations through international cooperation. WARSAW>KIN<BERLIN includes six project spaces each from Berlin and Warsaw, and is curated by Katie Zazenski (Stroboskop, Warsaw) and Elisabeth Sonneck (super bien! Berlin).

KIN: nie jest związkiem wywodzącym się z przeszłości a relacją, która wskazuje na przyszłość. Charakter dwóch scen niezależnych / projektowych przestrzeni sztuki obu stolic sąsiadujących z sobą krajów wyraża ich odrębne genezy, ale to właśnie pokrewieństwo pozwala dostrzec zaskakujące i subtelne różnice - zarazem krytycznie ujawniając powiązania obu miast.
Na wystawie w Pawilonie Milchhof prezentowane są prace grup składających się z dwojga artystów, po parze dla każdej z zaproszonych do udziału w projekcie inicjatyw. Ten sam gest jesienią zostanie powtórzony też w Warszawie. Chcemy podkreślić szczególną rolę niezależnych / projektowych przestrzeni dla rozwoju i eksperymentu artystycznego oraz wzmocnić te obszary poprzez współpracę międzynarodową. WARSAW>KIN<BERLIN obejmuje po sześć przestrzeni projektowych z Berlina i Warszawy, a kuratorkami projektu są Katie Zazenski (Stroboskop, Warszawa) i Elisabeth Sonneck (super bien! Berlin).

KIN: eine Beziehung, die nicht aus der Vergangenheit stammt, sondern in die Zukunft weist. Die unabhängigen Projektraum-Szenen dieser beiden Hauptstädte benachbarter Länder haben unterschiedliche Wurzeln und Biografien, was die individuellen Initiativen differenziert widerspiegeln. Aber es ist die Verwandtschaft, die es ermöglicht, subtile und oft überraschende Unterschiede zu entdecken und gleichzeitig entscheidende Verbindungen aufzuzeigen.
Die Berliner Ausstellung im Milchhof Pavillon zeigt Arbeiten von zwei Künstler*innen je Projektraum, eine Geste, die im Herbst in Warschau wiederholt wird. Mit dieser Initiative möchten wir die besondere Rolle der Projekträume für experimentelle künstlerische Entwicklungen hervorheben und in der internationalen Zusammenarbeit verstärken. WARSAW>KIN<BERLIN präsentiert je 6 Projekträume aus Berlin und Warschau und wird von Katie Zazenski (Stroboskop, Warschau) und Elisabeth Sonneck (super bien! Berlin) kuratiert.
